Getting into jamming can be an intimidating process until you realize
that there are countless other pickers out there thinking the exact same
thing.
Learn the tricks of the trade for your instrument. Learn how to
play over chord changes, how breaks and solos are created, and last but
not least, learn when and when not to play! Workshops are for
beginning through intermediate musicians who would like to improve their
musical interactions with others.

Is your Band ready for Prime Time?
We are looking for newly formed bands or bands that want to step it up a notch and want to be heard with your own style of Bluegrass!! Here it is; this is your opportunity to stand up and be heard by our secret panel; it is your opportunity to play in front of an audience at a Bluegrass Festival. If you think your band can stand the scrutiny of our very knowledgeable audience than we are ready for you to come out and pick for us and prove yourselves.
This year there will be an audience component of the judging and four other people.. The other judges will be unknown but the audience is what you will be facing, and they could be the major influence!!!
This contest is open to fully formed bands only!!! Please don’t show up with ringers and we will not award “festival throw together” bands in the contest. You are welcome to come and pick if you want (and we have an open slot) but you will not be selected. Your band may have members playing with another band on the main stage as long as your band is a distinct band.
What you need to do is register with Ken. He can be reached at kenpierson@tncweb.ca or by calling 902-351-2339. He will take all your information, add you to our website as a performer on our Showcase Stage, and eventually give you a performance time(s). You will be included in our entire web and print advertising and be on our tee-shirt. You will also be given comp tickets into the festival for your band members (band members only) for the entire three days of the festival. (We encourage you to be there for the entire Festival and play as often as you can.) Late sign ups at the Festival are possible, but there will be none of the registration benefits including no comp tickets.
The Reward is a half hour prime time performance on the Main Stage on Saturday evening and $100. Last year’s winner and the runner up are both on Main Stage this year so if you are available next year that could also be part of the package. (Keystone Mountain Boys and The Rockdale Boys.)
Let’s hear what you can do! Forty-five minute set minimum, instrumental, vocal and a fast one required. That’s it, no other requirements. If you can impress our secret judges your band will be awarded a half hour performance slot with the headline bands on Saturday night and $100. This is your chance to be heard and keep on pickin’!!! GOOD LUCK |
